Implants are a permanent procedure that replaces a missing tooth. Implants look and function just like natural teeth. You can eat virtually anything with the confidence and feel of a natural tooth.
Implants are placed in a 2-step process where a specialized titanium cylinder implant is secured into the jaw bone, and then allowed to heal over a few months. A temporary replacement of the tooth is usually in place while this healing takes place. Once the implant has healed, it can be uncovered and restored with a permanent crown, replacing the tooth as if it had never been lost.
Implants do not alter the strength of the adjacent teeth as a bridge would. The implant is completely independent of the surrounding teeth, and allows all teeth to continue to function normally.
